ELO Expectations

The specific role of the community partner is determined at the outset.

• Work with the student and the school to develop a learning plan with a clear set of expectations. The ELO Planning Grid may be useful for this purpose.

• Meet with the student on a regular basis and monitor the student’s learning.

• Monitor the student’s reflections.

• Participate in an assessment of the student’s work. The ELO Rubrics may be useful for this purpose.

• Provide adequate support and supervision so the student will meet the expectations of the ELO.

• Provide learning experiences/environments that allow the student to gain mastery in the pre-determined competencies.

• Provide the student with timely, detailed feedback to develop skills, knowledge, problem solving ability, creativity, and complex thinking, while reflecting on learning.

• Monitor student attendance.

• Maintain honest and open communication at all times. Be particularly attentive to any issues or concerns.

• Adhere to all SAU #88 ELO policies and practices.

Collaborate with the community partner and the school.

• Develop and maintain a notebook/journal/portfolio to document your learning and reflections.

• Complete all agreed curriculum competency work and assessments.

• Plan and develop a presentation of your learning.

• Maintain honest and open communication at all times. Be particularly attentive to any issues or concerns.

• Be professional and respectful at all times.

• Determine your means of transportation.

• If you are going to be absent, inform your community partner.

• Adhere to all SAU #88 ELO policies and practices.

Collaborate with the student and community partner.

• Communicate with parents and discuss Extended Learning Opportunities.

• Orient the student and community partner to the policies, practices, and expectations of an ELO.

• Work with the community partner and the student to develop a learning plan with a clear set of expectations.

• Monitor the ELO progress and provide support as needed.

• Oversee the timely completion of all aspects of the ELO.

• Ensure that all paperwork is completed.

• Adhere to all SAU #88 ELO policies and practices.

Student success is linked to parent/guardian involvement and encouraged throughout the ELO process.

• Become familiar with the Extended Learning Opportunity process and assessments.

• Provide support and coaching to the student throughout the ELO.

• Attend the final presentation of learning.
